This is module took on a life of it’s own (pun intended)!
SETI is a fantastic organization. One of the services it provides is a way to estimate how many lifeforms there are on other planets. One of those ways is by utilizing a complex formula known as Drake’s Formula. I decided to recreate the formula with limitations on each value so learners can use the slider to estimate/guestimate their own probabilities while researching what each variable really means.
Enhance understanding of the organization’s directives, allow website visitors to inform and apply their interest in science and help users identify areas of funding needs.
The module demonstrates the range of factors that determine the likelihood of discovering other intelligent life in the universe. Users may select between a range of conservative and optimistic estimates while highlighting current scientific understanding and areas of opportunity for further research.
