3. Activities leading up to receiving the Fiverr Brief
It was a typical Tuesday afternoon, and I was knee-deep in a sea of code, working on an interactive video for a client’s eLearning course. My desk was a battlefield of scribbled notes, half-empty coffee cups, and a couple of design books I’d been referencing. The soft hum of my computer and the rhythmic tapping of my fingers on the keyboard were the only sounds filling my home office.
My phone, lying face-down on the desk, buzzed, breaking the monotonous rhythm. I glanced at the screen, expecting another reminder for a meeting or a text from a team member. Instead, it was an email notification from Fiverr. The subject line read: “Learning Professional w/ IRS Experience”.
My heart skipped a beat. I was in the middle of a complex JavaScript function, but this was a lead I couldn’t ignore. I’ve learned in my freelancing journey that opportunities don’t wait, and this one seemed like a big fish. I took a deep breath, set my coding aside, and tapped on the notification, ready to dive into another exciting project.
Little did I know, this brief was about to take me on a journey that would challenge my skills, push my creativity, and ultimately, add another feather to my cap as an eLearning Instructional Designer.
4. Response Strategy – Approaching the eLearning Instructional Design inquiry efficiently
As I read through the Fiverr brief, I couldn’t help but be reminded of a similar project I had worked on not too long ago. It was for a large financial institution that wanted to revamp their existing eLearning courses. The project was a challenging one, but it was also incredibly rewarding.
One of the key elements that made this project a success was the integration of AI technology. I used Articulate Storyline 360 to develop an engaging eLearning module that incorporated conversational AI. This was achieved through the use of a pop-up chatbot that was programmed to answer questions learners may have throughout the course. This interactive feature not only made the course more engaging but also provided immediate feedback and assistance to the learners, enhancing their overall learning experience.
Another innovative feature I incorporated was the use of AI to generate quiz questions. The AI was programmed to provide detailed feedback on user responses, allowing learners to understand their mistakes and learn from them. This feature was particularly useful in reinforcing the learning objectives of the course.
Additionally, I utilized AI Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology to translate the on-screen text into multiple languages. This feature was instrumental in making the course accessible to a wider audience, ensuring that language was not a barrier to learning.
Reflecting on this past project, I am confident that I can apply the same innovative techniques and strategies to the project described in the Fiverr brief. I believe that my experience and skills, coupled with my passion for creating engaging and effective eLearning courses, make me an ideal candidate for this project.
As I prepare to reach out to the potential client, I am reminded of the importance of sharing these past experiences. Not only do they demonstrate my capabilities as an eLearning Instructional Designer, but they also provide reassurance to the client that I am well-equipped to handle their project. After all, every successful project adds to my repertoire of skills and experiences, making me better equipped to handle the next one.
5. My time is valuable and I need to make a quick decision on applying to this job or not.
As I read through this job posting, my initial reaction is one of intrigue. The project description immediately catches my attention. Having worked extensively as an eLearning Instructional Designer, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, each with its unique challenges and learning objectives. The prospect of enhancing existing eLearning courses for a large tax collection agency sounds like an exciting challenge that would allow me to apply my skills and experience in a new context.
The skills required for this project align perfectly with my core competencies. With a strong background in Curriculum Design, Online Instruction, and Content Writing, I feel confident in my ability to deliver high-quality work that meets the client’s needs. My extensive portfolio, available on my website and Fiverr profile, showcases my ability to design and develop engaging, interactive courses that effectively convey complex information.
The location requirement is not an issue for me, as I am based in the United States. While I don’t have specific experience with local tax laws and regulations, I am confident in my ability to quickly grasp new concepts and apply them in a learning context. My experience as a Director of Learning and Development for a large call center has equipped me with the skills to adapt to new industries and subject matter quickly.
The budget for this project falls within a range that I find acceptable. Given the complexity of the project and the skills required, I believe the proposed budget is fair. However, I am always open to negotiating a higher budget based on the value I bring to the table. My efficiency, creativity, and dedication to producing high-quality work are worth the investment.
Overall, this job posting has piqued my interest. The challenge of enhancing existing eLearning courses for a tax collection agency aligns with my passion for creating engaging, effective learning experiences. I am eager to apply my skills and experience to this project and look forward to the possibility of working with this client.
6. Conclusion & Next Steps – How I organize, prepare, and respond to the request.
- Respond Promptly: Given the competitive nature of freelancing, especially platforms like Fiverr, I’m well aware that promptness can be a decisive factor. In response to this Fiverr Brief, I ensured to reply immediately after performing a quick but thorough review of the project requirements. This prompt reaction signals to the client my eagerness and availability, potentially positioning me ahead of equally qualified competitors.
- Engage in Active Listening: When drafting my initial response, I prioritize constructing questions that demonstrate my genuine interest in understanding the client’s needs. It’s not enough to showcase my portfolio; it is critical they feel heard. Questions not only help clarify project specifics but also serve as a platform to build rapport, demonstrating my commitment to tailor my services to their particular objectives.
- Leverage Relevant Experience: My response includes references to specific projects in my portfolio that correspond with the client’s needs. By preparing links or having files readily available, I can smoothly transition to a visual showcase of my work during an impromptu Zoom meeting, effectively demonstrating my competence in areas most relevant to the client’s project.
- Be Ready for Meetings: Staying organized and flexible allows me to swiftly move from correspondence to consultation. Knowing the unpredictability of client schedules, I express readiness for an immediate meeting while also suggesting alternative times, should they be unavailable. This flexibility conveys my commitment to the client’s timeline.
- Negotiate Smartly: Understanding Fiverr’s fixed rate structure, I’m prepared to discuss the establishment of milestones. This both assures the client of progressive delivery and aligns with the payment norms of the platform. Moreover, it enables a transparent dialogue regarding expectations and deliverables within those milestones.
- Budget Consciousness: Instead of locking into a set bid, I find it beneficial to ask about the client’s budget upfront. This allows me to approach the proposal with a solution-oriented mindset, tailoring my offerings to deliver the maximum value while respecting the constraints of the budget and deadlines provided.
These preliminary steps inform not just my reply but how I position myself as the ideal candidate for the job. By integrating these tactics into my approach, I aim to transition smoothly from expressing interest to securing the project, ensuring a collaborative journey with the client from the outset.
