I think of eLearning as the overarching term used to describe different types of remote learning courses:

eLearning Courses are highly Interactive Courses with granular reporting, advanced actions, on screen interactivity for learner engagement.

Lecture-based courses have a ‘talking head’ or audio narration, with slides or video content for the learner to consume. Lecture-based courses often include micro lessons about 10 minutes long with downloads, action plans, reviews, quizzes, assessments, homework, and check-ins and are often found on popular sites like Udemy, SkillShare, and Teachable to name a few.  Blended courses have a mixture of video/audio, reading, on-screen activities, and a quiz or assessment. 

Types of services I specialize in

There are two distinct roles in the eLearning process: Instructional Design and Instructional Development.

Instructional Design

Implementing the vision laid out by the Instructional Developer into an online learning course/event.  The Instructional Designer is like the General Contractor building the house.  They use the outline from the homeowner, architect, and developer to do the complex heavy lifting that is outlined.  The Instructional Designer will work with the team to develop the end result and will communicate about vision, desired end results, and esthetics while not involving the stakeholder with the granular aspects of how they are using variables, shading, triggers, and technical functions within the course.
